Beginner's Guide

Your First 3D Print

Everything you need to know to get started with 3D printing on Mana. From choosing your first model to receiving your finished print.

How It Works

Step 1

Choose Your Design

Start with a 3D model file in STL, OBJ, or 3MF format

  • Download free models from Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory, or Printables
  • Create your own using Fusion 360, Blender, or Tinkercad
  • Ensure your model is manifold (watertight) and printable

💡 Pro Tip: New to 3D modeling? Start with Tinkercad - it's free and browser-based!

Step 2

Upload Your Model

Simply drag and drop your file or click to browse

  • Supported formats: STL, OBJ, 3MF
  • Maximum file size: 100MB
  • Our system will automatically analyze your model

💡 Pro Tip: Larger files may take longer to process. Compress if possible while maintaining quality.

Step 3

Configure Print Settings

Choose material, quality, and finishing options

  • Select material: PLA (beginner-friendly), ABS, PETG, or specialty filaments
  • Choose quality: Draft (fast), Standard (balanced), or High Detail (best quality)
  • Add finishing options like sanding or post-processing

💡 Pro Tip: PLA is perfect for beginners - it's easy to print and environmentally friendly!

Step 4

Get Matched with a Maker

Our platform connects you with skilled local makers

  • View maker profiles, ratings, and sample work
  • Compare pricing and delivery times
  • Communicate directly with your chosen maker

💡 Pro Tip: Check maker reviews and previous work to ensure quality matches your needs.

Step 5

Track Your Print

Monitor progress and communicate with your maker

  • Receive real-time updates on your print status
  • Ask questions and request progress photos
  • Get notified when your print is ready for pickup or shipping

💡 Pro Tip: Good communication with your maker ensures the best results!
